Maldhunga-Beni road section closed for five hours for 22 days

BENI: The Maldhunga-Beni road section that connects Mustang and Myagdi district to the national road will be closed for five hours a day from April 16 until May 8.

The decision was taken by stakeholders during a meeting convened today at the Parbat district administration office to give impetus to the construction of the Maldhunga-Beni road section.

The meeting chaired by Parbat District Chief Narayan Prasad Sapkota decided to close the road section from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Construction company Apex-Khadka Krishna JV applied to the DAO for time and traffic management on the road section after the expansion of the road section was affected due to the continuous movement of traffic.

Currently, 13 km of the road section was being improved and asphalted. Relevant administrative offices in neighboring districts have been notified of the facilitation and cooperation decision.

Ambulances and vehicles carrying materials related to development works would be facilitated to ply the road section during the closure of the road section, it was shared.

The Baglung-Ratnechaur-Beni, an alternative route to Maldhunga, can be used during the Maldhunga-Beni road closure period.

Director of Omkareshwor, Apex-Khadka Krishna JV contractor, Amrit Dahal shared that time has been requested to repair the road that closes it to vehicles.

The Beni-Jomsom-Korala road project said the 13 kilometer Maldhunga-Bani section has been closed in order to expand and upgrade it to a two-lane road.

This section of the road is part of the Kaligandaki Corridor Highway, the shortest road in Nepal connecting China and India.
