Madurai: Central Circle Rail Safety Commissioner (CRS), Mumbai, Manoj Arora, who inspected the 17km Andipatti – Theni section and carried out the speed test on Thursday, has certified the line as fit for operation passenger trains with a maximum speed of 85 km/h.
On Friday, the CRS inspected the old Pamban bridge.
Meanwhile, the Madurai Railway Division resumed the provision of sleeping places in some AC cars of trains on Friday. The blankets have been withheld since the Covid-19 outbreak two years ago. Bed sheets were given to passengers at Madurai – Chennai Pandian Express, Madurai – Trivandrum Amirta Express, Chenna – New Delhi Grand Trunk Express, Chennai Egmore – Mannargudi Express, Chennai – Mangaluru Express, Tiruchirappalli – Howrah Express and Kanyakumari – Jammu Katra Vaishnava Devi Katra Himsagar Express.
Southern Railway on Friday announced timetable changes for the Trichy Junction – Thiruvananthapuram Central daily intercity express between Trichy and Kovilpatti with effect from Sunday.
The revised departure times from the respective stations are as follows: Trichy Junction (7:20 a.m.), Manapparai (7:46 a.m.), Dindigul Junction (8:25 a.m.), Madurai Junction (9:20 a.m.), Virudhunagar Junction (10:10 a.m.), Sattur (10:30 a.m.) and Kovilpatti (10:50 a.m.) ).
