After the game, Caledonia head coach Brad King and PEM head coach Jason Herber reflected on what the two agreed was one of the best playoff games in history. recent state.
“I think this group of guys won’t give up,” Coach King said. “I mean – I think I told them in the middle of the season when we were down 20 at halftime against Totino-Grace and we came back and won that basketball game. We probably didn’t have the right to win it, but our guys never gave up. I never walk into the locker room worrying that we were going to mail it. Let there be – I tell them as long as that horn n did not sound, we have a chance.
“I just think two of the teams in the state have gone three overtimes,” Herber said. “One of the best games – and I’m a huge basketball fan, this has got to be one of the best section games I’ve ever seen, that I’ve been in. Not only seen, but it’s was a joy to be a part of and sadly right now a lot of pain. We watch the games here and there but the bottom line is I couldn’t be more proud of my kids. I don’t think many people outside of that locker room gave us a chance and we had it. We had it, we were a short game away from shocking the world. But we wouldn’t have been shocked.
Caledonia is now awaiting its official seeding at next Tuesday’s Class AA State Tournament.
